An impact window replacement in a stucco wall connects a tested product to an existing wall. The quote should therefore define more than removal and a new frame: it should address substrate, perimeter water management, stucco repair, finish matching, inspections, and concealed conditions.

Document the existing opening

Photograph the full exterior and interior, sill, head, corners, cracks, staining, shutters, trim, and nearby penetrations. Note whether the frame appears recessed, flush, or surrounded by decorative bands.

Ask which existing components will be removed and which will remain. A proposal should not call the work “standard” without stating the assumed wall and frame condition.

Ask for the approved installation approach

The exact product approval and manufacturer instructions govern unit size, anchors, edge distances, substrate, sealants, and installation limitations. Use the Florida Product Approval search and have the responsible team match the detail to the property.

FEMA’s water-intrusion advisory emphasizes installation, flashing, and sealing around windows and doors. FGIA’s 2026 notice on flanged-window installation guidance describes routing incidental water to a drainage plane and exterior. These principles do not replace the product-specific approved detail.

Define the finish boundary

Write down who removes and replaces stucco, lath, waterproofing, interior drywall, trim, texture, primer, and paint. Identify whether paint matching is a spot repair, full wall, or excluded.

Existing color and texture may not match perfectly after weathering. Request a sample or clear acceptance standard instead of assuming an invisible patch.

Plan for concealed conditions

When the old frame is removed, the team may find damaged bucks, weak concrete, corrosion, moisture, or earlier repairs. Set a process for photographs, stop-work decisions, pricing, engineering input, and owner approval.

Our window-buck guide explains why the attachment base matters. The installation-preparation guide covers interior access and protection.

Close out the whole assembly

Confirm permit documents, required inspections, manufacturer labels, cleanup, finish completion, operation checks, and warranty records before final payment under the contract.

For impact windows in stucco construction, contact ClearView with exterior and interior photos. A defined transition from approved frame to existing wall makes proposals easier to compare.

Fotografíe exterior e interior, base, parte superior, esquinas, grietas, manchas, shutters, molduras y penetraciones cercanas.

Indique quién retira y repone estuco, malla, impermeabilización, drywall, molduras, textura, primer y pintura.

Does every impact-window replacement require the same stucco repair?

No. Existing frame, installation method, substrate, flashing, damage, finish texture, and approved detail affect the scope.

Can exterior caulk alone manage water around a replacement window?

Do not assume so. The project team should coordinate the complete approved installation and wall-water-management transition, not rely on an unspecified bead of sealant.
